A Journey To America and Back...

Well it wasn't quite a journey to America, I was still in Ireland, but at an American folk park, so that counts right?

Today the weather decided that it had had enough of making everyone smile with its glorious sun, and that it was time to make the ducks happy and rain. But we didn't mind too much, so we reacquainted ourselves with our warm coats and headed to the Ulster American Folk Park.
The park is an interactive experience that takes you through the journey of some Irish people who emigrated to America.

You walk through a wooded area filled with the cottages of Ulster and go on a journey through time all the way to the American homes that they would have lived in.
You are also welcomed with actors along the way, who fill you in on snippets of information to help you understand their journey...

All their trades were demonstrated to you, to help you visualise the variety of working environments.

The cottages were lovely! I wouldn't mind living in a house like this, wrapped up in home-made wool...

Maybe I will wait until I am older though?

I couldn't help but zoom in on this... It reminded me of Sleeping Beauty and got me all excited for the new film that's coming soon!
But anyway... back to the tour...

Slowly getting wealthier...

Even though the sun was beginning to greet us again, this fire was a warm welcome!
And the smell it produced was divine!

I even went back to school...

and on a boat...

After wandering around the park all afternoon all you could hear was the rumble of our stomachs, so we headed straight for the cafĂ© whilst we waited to get a lift to Omagh.
We had such a lovely meal with everyone that night and then headed down to a local pub for a night of live music and lemonade.

Love Em
